Adapting 19th century portraiture to meet contemporary societal expectations of immediacy and image, Susan’s portraits are unashamedly confrontational, inviting the viewer to question and further explore the fragility and vulnerability of the self. Using traditional methods of hand-colouring, Susan's work is both compelling and intriguing.
