"My interest in literature informs my paintings".

Esther’s work explores the ways in which the fragmentary aspects of memory, loss and uncertainty can be conveyed through painted images. Her paintings are grounded in the traditions and history of representational painting and she works from observations and memories of places, objects and people that are significant to her.  Despite this, she is interested in the potential for ambiguity and enigma within that tradition, and these pieces explore that tension.
